Hey, What's up?
I'm Diego Gangl, a CGI Artist/developer based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I work almost exclusively with open source software.
I was introduced to Open Source when I was about 13 when I read about Linux on a local PC Magazine and automatically became a fan. Even after all these years I'm stll constantly amazed by the ideas and projects that come out of the community.
I believe open source will revolutionize the CGI/Art community in the coming decades. Tools will be more accesible to everyone and we'll be able to inspect and study them to improve them (or even make our own). The fact that the code is public also means that we won't lose useful bits of code when an application is abandoned or discontinued. No company can buy and fully shut down an open source project. Having artists and developers constantly in touch also makes progress much faster and can breed all kinds of interesting new ideas.
As an artist that also develops, this is what excites me the most. Making better tools, freely sharing ideas and helping others is not only fun but also a way to give something back to the community. I sincerely hope my work can help you push your skills to the next level (or even get started!).

I'm one of those weirdos that actually likes geting emails/toots from visitors and users, so don't think twice! I'll do my best to answer promptly.
